I recently thoroughly enjoyed a seven-day cruise of the Mediterranean with Princess Cruises, onboard the wonderful Regal Princess last week. You might have seen the videos I shared on our Instagram or Facebook pages, and I thought I'd share my experience with you here too:
We started from Civitavecchia near Rome and finished up in Piraeus near Athens, with port calls in Naples, Crete, Kusadasi, Istanbul and Mykonos. My travelling companion and I have previously visited all of these ports and were in need of a total stress-free, restful holiday. So, we decided not to take any excursions but to enjoy all the facilities on board the ship for the full week.
And it was totally invigorating!... breakfast in bed; lunch in the excellent buffet restaurant or in the open air accompanied by a cool beer; dinner in a selection of great restaurants accompanied by good wine; lazy afternoons in the sunshine by the pool. Where you can also watch movies and concerts, or take part in fun video quizzes on the big screen:
As most other people were out on excursions each day, we had plenty of space on deck. Exercise consisted of an excellent gym, the handy walking and jogging track around the ship, a nice little putting green, basketball court, table tennis and swimming pool. And of course, we had to pay a visit to the excellent spa.
The spacious atrium always had a variety of music to listen to over a nice cocktail or beer. There were a number of locations with great live music all over the ship each evening. There were also different free shows in the theatre every night. The shows run 45 minutes long, and there are two performances each night so you can choose to dine pre- or post-theatre.
We had bought the pre cruise drinks/ tips package and it was great value- including unlimited wifi.I was impressed at the wheelchair-friendly facilities on board. There were also plenty of families on board, children from about 7/8 years old and teenagers too. While we were onboard there was a wedding taking place, which looked great. I took a peek inside their wedding venue and shared a video here on our Instagram page.
The staff onboard Regal Princess were absolutely great- attending to your every need and continuously sanitising of every aspect of the ship. All in all a great holiday!
