Where To Go!
Montevideo is the capital of Uruguay and is a vibrant city. The main areas to visit include the historic downtown district and the beachside suburb of Carrasco. There is a rich culture here including great options to enjoy music, theatre and dining and it is home to charming small museums. Montevideo is the starting point of a holiday to Uruguay and from here you can visit the pampas or beach resorts including Punta del Este. You can take a ferry directly from Montevideo to Buenos Aires, but we would recommed spending time in other areas of Uruguay and then crossing to Buenos Aires from Colonia del Sacramento. Colonia del Sacramento is a small picturesque colonial town in Uruguay, lying on the Rio de la Plata River, and is the oldest city in Uruguay. Since 1995, Colonia del Sacramento has been listed as a UNESCO World Culture Heritage Site. As you walk through the cobblestone streets you will admire the unique colonial architecture of the town. Some of the attractions include the gateway to the historic quarter, which is a drawbridge called Puerta de la Ciudadela, leading into what used to be a fortress, the Convent of San Francisco, Fernando's beach and the waterfront which overlooks the vast Río de la Plata. Our Tip: Colonia is accessible by ferry from Buenos Aires so is a great way to combine the two countries of Argentina & Uruguay without having to fly. We can arrange the ferry for you and if you would like to stay in Colonia for a few nights we can arrange your transfers and accommodation also. Colonia del Sacramento
Punta del Este is a beach resort located in Uruguay which has always been synonymous with the jet setting lifestyle. It is one of the most important and popular tourist destinations in the country.
